Update 9/3: Twitter, Social Media, Study, and more

Hello readers!

I have been absent the past few weeks to begin the arduous and paperwork-filled process of beginning grad school. I am proud to say that I am now a full-fledged first-year doctoral student in The CUNY Graduate Center’s Ph. D in Physics program.

I absolutely love it here (and I especially love the food in Midtown)! I’ll maybe give a full update on everything either in the form of poetry or some article or something. But anyways, these first few days have fueled me to dive deeper into my studies–not just in physics, but everything important in this world to me. As such, less is being written, but many more ideas are coming to fruition. Continue reading

Aphoticism (or Still afraid of the Dark)

You’re still afraid of the dark

Of its restless silence

And its reminder of eternity

You’re still afraid of the dark

And all its secrets

That skitter under the guise

Of soft rain, a/c, electronic buzz

You’re still afraid of the dark

The Chesire smile

The whispers of paranoia

Of solemnity, cessation, and sacrilege

And the chirality of madness Continue reading

Monster Hunter Four Ultimate: Charge Blade Guide and Tips

A bit of a departure from what I usually write, but what I can I say; I fucking love Monster Hunter. It’s basically the perfect game for me. It somehow manages to combine the “gotta catch ‘em all” mentality of Pokemon, with the fear and difficult of Shadow of the Colossus with Dark Souls-esque fighting system, all while drawing you in fight after fight with the many surprises the game can throw at you hunt to hunt. But I could go on forever about why I think Monster Hunter is genius, simply because there is no end to the genius within it. </end dramatization>

Today I want to write a comprehensive guide for my main weapon: the Charge Blade. This is mostly because 1) it is one of the newest weapons featured in the game, 2) the in-game tutorial is next to useless, and 3) and most surprising, is that there is a lack of good internet resources on it. Some of the videos are ok (this one I like, but it’s 15 minutes https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=645&v=J1LE1D5YSZM). I kind of hate trudging through videos when I just need a quick tip. This is a collection of tips I’ve gathered from playing the game over the last few months. Continue reading

Recollection

I don’t recall what this poem’s about

I’ve received your demands–How’s it goin’ today (over yesterday)?

And it echoes in my skull,

A cavity warped in the over-abundance of media and memory and meditation

Back and forth and back forever

Through amplification I crack

And I’m in need of recollection Continue reading

Completely Blank

On “the terror of the blank page,” written for a class

If a picture is worth a thousand words, than an empty page is worth an infinity.

On an empty page, I see all of these words that could be said. And on making a choice, infinity questions: What is the probability I choose the wrong ones? Or that my words fail to serve me? Or perhaps miss a beat? What word begins? What word decrescendos? What word ends? What is my motive? What is my purpose? And more repeating.

I’m petrified of infinity. Continue reading

Site Updates and Changes 6/8/2015

Hello readers!

I have just returned from my vacation which I went on pretty much directly after graduation. The site has lain fallow, but now I can officially say that the author is a B.S. in Physics!

Over the past few weeks I have reflected on what things I want to write about next. I’ve dug deep to try to understand what really inspires me. And after some consideration, I have decided to take Post Quantum Poetry in an entirely new direction. Continue reading

Poems and Music and Science Oh My! Where the fuck are you, Mike?

Hello readers.

I have missed all of April. All of it. Including Planck’s Constant Day. But there’s a good reason for this.

In a month, as long as no tragedy befalls me, I will be receiving my Bachelor’s in physics from Adelphi University. But this will not be so without a number of papers to be written, including my senior thesis for a cumma sum laude degree. As such, my intellectual efforts need to be placed not here on this humble blog, but on matters of my career.

In four days, I will be presenting my first ever original research at the national conference SPIE. Following the next day, I will be at their job fair hoping to land some deal in photonics. After that, crunch time until the end of the semester.

However, this is not the end of Post-Quantum Poetry. If anything, it’s the beginning. I can’t say for sure when I will return to writing, but I can say for sure that I will. Graduation is May 21st for us and the world is open from there. I have a number of pieces in the works, some musical projects inspired from my Composition class, and a new drive to further the cause of science in politics. I want to take a new direction with this blog that lines up more with my career interests. StarTalk with Neil deGrasse Tyson starts this Monday, for example, and I will be watching it religiously. Expect discussions of this monumental show in the months to come. But this will be a supplement to my creative work–not a replacement. My view is that art is a communication device for all of us. We all are artists and our art needs to be seen. You can’t disregard the poet within me, or within any of us.

If it wasn’t obvious from that bumbling explanation, this is a confusing time in my life. And it’s confusing times that sometimes make us too dizzy to sit down and capture the world on our pens (or more accurately though less artful, computers). But it’s almost over and it will come with a cap and gown. I will see you when I’m 22. Thank you for following!
