e-day Post: Finding “e” On Your Own!

Happy e day!

Valued at 2.718281828459045, this irrational number (irrational only to the un-enlightened) is one of the most important, widely-used, and not to mention COOLEST mathematical constants ever. Yet e-day has never gained the popularity of \pi-day; I blame the schools. More and more often, people are allowed to scrape by high school by finishing off trig and never even getting a glimpse at the wonderful world of exponentials, pre-calc, and of course differential  calculus.
